Ighil M’Goun Trekking – Sahara Desert tour (7 Days) is an exclusive trip that allows you to discover and explore the geography of Morocco that spans from the Atlantic Ocean, to mountainous areas, to the Sahara Desert.
We will initiate our trip by discovering the High Atlas Mountains areas, starting from the Arous Valley with its spectacular views to the Tarkeddit Plateau which is an amazing spot for camping, this trip is also a chance to discover the second highest summit of Morocco which is the ascent of Jebel M’Goun (4060m).
This part of the trip is suitable for people seeking long walking adventure. It is also an opportunity for mountains climbing lovers.
The second part of the trip will be in the south-eastern desert, it is full of various monuments, views and activities from the camel rides over the sand dunes to the night under the stars in Berber camps and many more… for you to enjoy this adventure to the max.

Tour Plan


Day 1: Arous Valley

Our “Ighil M'Goun Trekking – Sahara Desert tour 7 Days” Journey begins by picking you up at a location previously set just after the confirmation of your booking, and we will be heading to Ait bougmez valley, it is Located in the central High Atlas Mountains, around 200 kilometers east of Marrakech, Ait Bougmez Valley is unspoiled nature at its best. After lunch break, we will join local Berbers with their mules to carry our luggage, It is wise to take a backpack as luggage to load it onto the mules easily, after a 2 hours walk we will arrive to Arous Valley (2100m), it is valley with outstanding surroundings. When arriving it is time to unpack and relax. overnight stay at Arous Valley.

Day 2: Tarkeddit Plateau

In the second day, a long walk awaits, you should consider wearing appropriate footwear, we will head to Tarkeddit Plateau, the trip will take around 5 hours walking, we will have a lunch break during our walk. After arriving to the desired site we will pich our tents as we will spend the night in the camp so bringing a sleeping bag is a must.

Day 3: Ascent Ighil M'Goun

An early wake up at 5 A.M as we have a long walk, after taking the breakfast to fuel our early-morning we will head to Ighil M'Goun (at 4,071 metres)it is the third highest peak of the Atlas Mountains after Toubkal and Ouenkrim, This area is visually very distinctive, being composed of long crested ridges, escarpments and deep gorges, this trip will take around 8 hours of walking, so having walking shoes is a must, after taking a break we will be heading to “oli limt” to spend the night.

Day 4: Rose Valley

During this day after a short walk (around 2 hours), we will join our 4x4 driver to start our part 2 adventure that awaits us in the morocco eastern-west desert. We will pass by the M'Goun valley again which gives us another opportunity the admire the beautiful sceneries. Our next stop will be in the Valley of roses(El-Kelaa Mgouna), which is one of most fertile Moroccan south, known for its apricots , but especially for its roses , this valley is rich of its traditions ,Berber culture and its marvelous landscapes. Overnight stay at the Rose Valley.

Day 5: Valley of the roses – Tadis Valley - Toudra Gorges- Merzouga

In our 5th day trip, after a hearty breakfast, we will be heading to the village of Merzouga, the wonderland of sand that attracts so many tourists, through the Valley of Tadis 25 km of splendid sceneries located between the high Atlas mountains and djebel Saghro mountain. We will be also discovering the Toudra gorges which are like the dades, another amazing river canyon, near the Tinghir Town which is a town in the south of the Atlas mountain, its name refers to “foothills”. We will take a break at the Toudra gorges for lunch. We shall arrive to Merzouga before sunset, then we will take a camel tour through the sand dunes leading to a Berber desert camp where you can enjoy the breathtaking sunset, an amazing evening meal and spend the night under the stars and surrounded by sand… such a memorable experience.

Day 6: Merzouga – Alnif – Draa Valley – Ouarzzate.

We will have an early wake up to experience the amazing sunrise from the heart of the desert. Then we will take the camels back to Merzouga which gives you more time enjoying the spacious sand dunes. In our way to Ouarzazat we will pass through Alnif which is a small town in Tinghir Province . Our Lunch break will be at Daraa Valley, which is a river flowing from the high of the Atlas mountain to the Atlantic Ocean. then we head to Ouarzazate , we will have the opportunity to visit the cinema studio where we can enjoy taking pictures in one of the most famous film making areas. spending the night at Ouarzazate.

Day 7: Ouarzazat -Ait BenHadou – Telouet - Tizi n'Tichka – Marrakech

In our last day before heading back to Marrakech, we will discover the amazing Kasbahs in the area, kasbah Ait benhaddou which is a fortified old village with houses built in clay, on a beautiful river on the road between Marrakech and the Sahara, demonstrating an amazing clay architecture. and Telouet Kasbah it was the seat of the El Glaoui family's power, thus sometimes also called the Palace of Glaoui, and it was built in the 18th and 19th centuries It is located on the outskirts of the small Berber village of Télouet,. It lies at an elevation of 1,800 metres. We will return to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains in a pass that links the south east of Marrakech to the gate of Desert, called Tizi n'Tichka, which is considered as the highest major mountain road in North Africa reaching a height of 2.260 meters above the sea level, for a magical 2 hours’ drive. Lunch break at Tizi n'Tichka. Arriving to Marrakech.
